The Long Trip Home
Where am I you might ask??? Well, I am actually in the good ole US of A at the moment. I'm just on the west coast getting the last of the decent weather before heading home to freezing Chicago.
It was a very sad goodbye when leaving Ko Phangan last week. I made two fantastic friends and it was very sad to leave Karl and Ty. We had a great time together being dorks or making superhero outfits. I will miss them! We spent our last days on the beach and working out at the gym. They are both training in Muay Thai right now and will be back to Canada very buff and in shape. I was going to try it, but I'm too scared of the coaches...Very scary buff woman!
I left the island last Wednesday morning and got myself ready for an extremely long trip back to the States. It was about 48 hours of taxis, ferries, train, buses, airplanes and tuk-tuks. When I got to Bangkok I actually begged a guesthouse to let me pay for a shower! 50 Baht for a shower, not too bad. It was a long way, but it didn't feel that bad. I got to sleep on teh train. Thank God I made that last minute decision to spend the extra money for a bed on the train rather than the bus. I would have had no sleep. I had 3 hours in Bangkok to do some super-shopping before heading to the airport. I walked off on the US soil in LA and was very happy to be there. For anyone that knows me, you know why I was so happy.
Matt and Ben live right on Venice Beach. They share a small one room apt, but it's well worth it because the ocean is right there. Venice is a funny place with lots of strange people. It seems like all the freaks flock here! I've been waking up to musicians playing the guitar right outside the window all week. The weather is getting me ready for Chicago weather. It's much colder than I have felt it all year. I actually have to wear shoes, which has not been necessary since I left Korea. I am not ready for the winter at all! Well, I'll see everyone soon. I'll be in Chicago sometime next week.
Happy Holidays!!!
